Dimitrios is Head of AI at Quotient Therapeutics (a Flagship Pioneering company), where he leads the company- wide AI strategy for end-to-end drug discovery. He and his team build and deploy advanced machine learning and generative models, from graph neural networks to large language models and agentic AI workflows, tightly integrated with Quotient’s somatic-genomics platform to accelerate target identification and therapeutic discovery.
Previously, Dimitrios was Director of Data Science & Genomics at AstraZeneca, where he led a 12-person team at the Centre for Genomics Research. His work there spanned AI methods for genomics, population-scale multi-omics pipelines, and phenome-wide disease gene discovery, leading to multiple high-impact publications (Nature, Nature Genetics, Science Advances, AJHG). His research has been recognised with several awards, including the AstraZeneca CEO Award in 2024 and the Pharma Industry Awards UK 2025.
Dimitrios holds a PhD in Computational Biology from the University of Cambridge and EMBL-EBI, where he developed novel AI methods for functional genomics and small RNA biology. His research interests span deep learning, generative models, genomics, and AI-driven drug discovery.
