María Sobrino Ruiz is a Commercial Technician and State Economist since 2009. She holds a degree in Law and Business Administration and Management from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2005).

She has developed her professional activity between the National Competition Commission and the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade where she has held the position of Head of Area of the Subdirectorate of Studies of the Directorate of Promotion and the Head of Service of the Subdirectorate General of Commercial Policy of the European Union, respectively. Since the creation of the CNMC (October 2013) she held the position of Deputy Director of the Rail Sector of the Directorate of Transport and Postal Sector and from 2014 until July 2018 she held the position of Deputy Director of Studies and Reports of the Department of Promotion of Competition of the CNMC. She is currently Deputy Director of Sectoral Policies of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government.
